: : I am wondering what kind of strings Larry Grenadier is using. does anyone know?

: I read in a Bass Player interview w. Larry he was using Spirocore Weich's.He has a bass that's nice and dark so they match up for him.He also stressed a well fitted Soundpost and general Set-up as an important link to a good sound.

Larry is currently using (and endorsing) the Velvet Compas' strings, I believe the 360's. They give him that nice dark sound, but without the mwaaah quality of Spiros. The Velvets are more gutlike. You can really here it on the Trio Live album with Pat Metheny.
