: I guess I must be the least cool guy around. I started playing bass again a few months ago, after a fifteen year breather, and only when I started perusing bass websites did I encounter for the first time the term, "Rockabilly."

: Enlighten me, please. What type of music is this, and who plays it?

It's the mix of Country Western and Rhythm & Blues at it's very essentials. Don't need horns, background vocals, keyboards,..even drums in some cases! Elvis was rockabilly before 1957. Bill Haley and his Comets, Carl Perkins, "Johnny Burnette & the Rock and Roll Trio", are some of the best examples of rockabilly at its best. Even Ricky..that's with a "y" at the end of his name...before 1960..is rockabilly. It's not rockabilly if it doesn't have a slapping bass! Dave
