: Did that change the sound? I've got a Grunert plywood bass that is very ORANGE and somebody decidd to start stripping it, but didn't finish. So once every couple years I put some oil on the bare spots. it would be nice to get rid of the ORANGE but it has a killer sound.

Well, its difficult to make a judgement on any change there might be in the sound,as i have only played it out twice since i finished the job,but whether it may be my imagination or just that i feel better about the bass my initial feeling is yes it does sound better.
does any one else have views on whether different varnish finishes/thicknesses have an effect on sound to a noticeable degree ?
