: : Hello, I currently have a Carbon Graphite Bass for sale on Ebay at a ridiculously low price.. It was made in Paris in 1996 by Mssr. LaGarde.
: : It would be a perfect instrument for a student or as a second instrument. for more info and a picture, click on this link.
: : http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1418020773 Hi reed. I saw the bass on e-bay and it looks great. I'm curious about the construction and weight. Does it weigh about the same as a plywood? What holds it together? Is it a shell with a top attatched, and a neck glued on? Is there even any glue, or is some other adhesive used? It looks like a nice bass, and I'm surprised more of the young players haven't asked about it here. But then again, it's not a Pfretschner. 8^o
RE: Good questions all,Dave. One by one, it weighs 8 kg (about 17 Lbs.).
It is very well constructed, and seems to be a one-piece design, as I can't find any seams anywhere, The neck seems to be molded into the body, which makes it very strong, yet resilient enough to give it excellent response. But yes, I was also surprised I haven't had more questions from students as it would be a perfect high-quality student bass.maybe they'e all bidding on that $350 Cremona...;)
