Sorry, I'm new to the WebBoard thing, please excuse my reposting if this appears twice!

Anyone with any any experience care to share any ideas on acheiving a nice recording of acoustic bass. It may seem like a broad question, but thats fine. It will be good if I receive a broad response as well. 2 mics? 1 mic? Large diaphragm? Ribbon? Condensor?

We'll keep it in the jazz genre, just to keep things in perspective. I've generally approached recording with one mic at most times. A KM84 works well for me.

I've also adapted using 2 mics on occasion, one just above the bridge (between f-hole and bridge facing off-axis towards strings / body), whetehr it be a U87 / 414 (something along the lines of) and a KM84 or something similar up the body a ways, to allow for balance / clarity.

Best,
G.
