: : Does anyone have experience or opinions on the solid wood bass that is sold by Lemur for $1899. I am looking for a starter instrument and this seems like a good deal for a carved top solid wood bass. I have explored the laminated options, but a carved top is attractive for a better sound and is not that much more expensive. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Yes. I have been to lemur and have seen their selection of basses. and what fine selection they have. The Korean maded bass that they sell is the bottom of the barrel. After you you add in the cost of the set up , fingerboard dressing and other stuff like a new endpin, and new strings you still have a korean made bass that's resale value is quite low. I think I saw a place in the Midwest that sell the same Korean basses for 1600. with a bag and bow
