: My left hand gets very fatigued when I am playing, especially in the first position (esp playing F or Bb). I know my hand will get used to it eventually, but is there any exercises I can do to strengthen it faster? Also, is there a correct way of warming-up and warming down and streaching as I want to avoid an injury at all costs.

Tim: Something to be aware of concerning the amount of pressure your first finger needs to finger F or Bb, (and therefore, resulting fatigue). The height adjustment of the string slots in the nut has a tremendous influence on the action at that end of the fingerboard. My preference is that the strings should sit as low as possible, without buzzing. I adjusted my nut, and have been very happy with the results. Just be sure you, or whoever does it, doesn´t get them too low, or you will probably need a new nut. Best wishes. Reed.
