I'd bet no. Old Kays are worth a lot considering what they are, and I say that not as a carved bass snob--they can sound really great. But they aren't rare and they aren't handmade and they're never worth more than $2000 or so.

I've never seen an old kay in good playing shape that didn't have a lot of repairs to it. If you do a good job, I doubt you'd bring the value down much, at least not to me
