I got my '41 from a fellow student in high school -- it had been stripped completely of parts, including the fingerboard and machines. Mine was painted gold with blue polka dots -- wonder if they were related .

I stripped mine in 1966 or so, applied a dark walnut stain and coated it with clear. Sounds great to this day!
