: I am thinking of buying a Knilling all solid carved wood 3/4 size bass. Its the Bucharest 1308TP model. It was made in Romania. Does anyone own one of these and are they any good.... I would only be paying around $1700.for it It has never been damaged and is 10 years old. I am playing a 1951 Kay C-1. It sounds good for a ply bass.(thump thump thump), but I want that nice tone you can only get from a solid carved bass. What do you think?????

I've never played a Knilling but speaking as someone who played a ply bass for 16 years (yes, I do still own it) I bought a hand carved bass by Michael Glas 4 years ago (about $7000) the sound difference is amazing ----- if it's a good bass definitely BUY IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
