: I have a small condenser mic that I want to plug into a combo amp for gigs. Can anyone recomend a small battery powered preamp that provides phantom power and a 1/4 inch output that can plug into a bass amp? I know fishman has the bass blender but im looking for something simpler and less expensive.
Whirlwind makes a battery operated phantom power supply: http://www.marsmusic.com/store/product_new.jhtml?catid=127&prodid=3559&skuid=0
I am pretty sure AKG makes one, too, and the cheapest one I know of is Rolls - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/ex/shop/home/010426074853208009152143343224?pid=428708
However, you may want to look at something slightly more substantial that isn't battery powered.
The ART Tube MP Personal Tube Mic Preamp might be worth looking into, since it will provide the phantom power and also that bit of tube warmth that might be desirable, and they are around $100. http://www.marsmusic.com/store/product_new.jhtml?catid=40&prodid=5473&skuid=0
I've not played one but have heard good reports.
