: Anyone got a Chinese made plywood Antori Double Bass or had any experiences with one? Thinking of buying one because it's all I can afford. Indeed, they are ridiculously cheap 385 !!! Looks nice, sounds nice (it does, really!) and seems well built...what's the catch???

I think i may have one of these basses, but i thought it said Antoni? maybe my eyes are worse than i thought!.anyway i got mine from Overwater in Carlisle, and very pleased i am with it for the price.A change of strings,a decent pickup/preamp,if you are amplifying, should get you a reasonable sound.
Definitely not a virtuoso machine but a good knockabout giggable upright.
BTW i stripped and refinished mine, when you get past that amber fence wood preserver, the quality of build is not great, but substantial enough to take a good slapping
The catch is it will never be worth any more than you paid for it and there maybe some crack repairs in the future(read-neck at body joint)
