: anyone know what type of Basses (i.e. German, French etc.) Mingus used during the latter part of his career?

: : Sadly, the last few years of his life Mingus was unable to play Bass due to the crippling Lou Gehrigs' disease. But he had several basses, one of which is still played by Boris Koslov of the Mingus Big Band. From the pictures I've seen, it looks like a Villaume or a Mirecourt style DB.

: :Thanks to all for the info, I'm going to check-out that Biography.
the french bass i see on many pictures is a JACQUET Xavier (the father) mid of 19th century, orange yellow
