Say, I'd like some feedback on what to do with my bass. It is a 1936 German 3/4 carved top and back, that has been in dry storage about 35 years. Now after I've done extensive repair to neck, back, and peg box, I have decided it is too sound of an axe leave the the way some previous doofus'smeared shellac overlay all over. It has more texture than the thickest paint roller I have ever used! Maybe I should wait till its strung and played to make my mind up. This is my backup, now that I'm doing more URB. #1 bass is due some repairs. I guess my question is about what brands of finishes have worked well, and not muffled the sound. thanks
