: Say, I'd like some feedback on what to do with my bass. It is a 1936 German 3/4 carved top and back, that has been in dry storage about 35 years. Now after I've done extensive repair to neck, back, and peg box, I have decided it is too sound of an axe leave the the way some previous doofus'smeared shellac overlay all over. It has more texture than the thickest paint roller I have ever used! Maybe I should wait till its strung and played to make my mind up. This is my backup, now that I'm doing more URB. #1 bass is due some repairs. I guess my question is about what brands of finishes have worked well, and not muffled the sound. thanks
Hasn't anyone had success in refinishing an old bass, that didn't ruin the brightness or tone? I would really appreciate anyone's experience on what to use! I want to do this right the first time! thanks again Jon
