: I'm curious to get some impressions of the Pirastro Obligato string. I have just had a bass restored and it has a big sound but is a bit harsh in the mids with spirocore orchestral gauge, particularly when bowed. Cheers.

I play Orchestra and Chamber acoustic (no amp) - I like my Obligatos
better than the orchestra Helicore mediums. My bass is a carved Chech
bass from about 1930 ( it is a "light" 3/4 ). The sound seems richer
and bowing is easy. Pizz is groovy - I would tell you to try them.
Lemur says they will cost you $ 87.00 - you can't go wrong.
Good luck -Al
