: : I have used the solid core jazz strings by Picato. They have a VERY gut-like tone, and are extremely easy to bow. They don't have quite the volume of the Spirocore, or Helicore Pizz., but the sound quality is very good. I have them on my 1934 Hawkes bass. The bass naturally has a lot of volume, so I don't have a problem acoustically. They don't last all that long though.
: How long is not long? And how is there life do they die quickly and become useless or can they still go on just with loss of definition? How many hours did you get out of them approximately?
>I played 2-3 hours a day with them. They last about 4-5 months roughly. When they start to go, they lose a lot of articulation. They sound fine with the bow, but don't have much definition pizz. A lot of sustain is lost as well.
