I too am on the horns of a dilemma, having just bought an acoustic bass for the price of a small car!
My EUB had Thomastik Spirocores (red) on it.
The Acoustic bass came with Thomastic Superflexibles which are brighter (possibly newer)and harder (i.e. stiffer) to play.
I have swapped them between instruments and find that the acoustic instrument is easier to play and has a darker sound with the Spirocores which are three years old.
My problem is: should I buy new Spirocores, which are an unknown quantity to me, or should I try Pirastro Jazzers on the acoustic bass in an effort to acheive a warm sound with flexibility in the action?
I would appreciate any information on this from somebody who has experience of both these types of string.
Incidentally I play Jazz pizzicato, so arco compatibility is not an issue.
Many thanks in advance, John.
