: I have a Realist pickup on both of my uprights and would like to add a microphone to enhance my sound, preferably a clipon. I know that I will have to blend the two, which would mean either a Fishman blender or a two channel head. Any suggestions?
A number of Realist owners have come to me for the K&K Golden Mic Upgrade system, which I developed with K&K Sound. It includes a condenser mic and a very compact two channel preamp that not only powers the mic, but provides a second channel with 3-band EQ for the Realist, especially helpful for bringing out the mids in that pickup.
This would eliminate the need for an expensive blender or a two channel amp. The two volume controls on the tiny preamp can be balanced. using internal trimmers, so the outputs of the mic and pickup match, and you can vary the blend on the fly.
FYI, my discounted price for the system, complete with mic, preamp, and cable, is $188. You'll find a link below to the web site, with more info and photos, and a link to comments from players who have bought and enjoyed the system.
