: I've got thomastik metalcore strings on my plywood engelhart. are there strings that are louder for pizz that also have deep low end?

: some one told me that "velet garbo" was a loud string set. is that true?

I agree with Francois. I use Velvet 360's, a composite gut-like string, on my Juzek after using Spiros and Pirastro Jazzers for several years. They made my bass much louder, but it is a carved bass made in the early 30's before steel strings and it responds better to lower tension. I doubt you would see the same effect on a plywood, but who knows. Also, these strings have shorter sustain, more like gut, so if you like the sound of Spiros, you won't like Velvet. I prefer a gut sound, so I like it better than a string with really long sustain.
