I've played both and bought the K & K Golden Trinity. I thought the AMT was a little more "true" in it's response, but mixed with a pickup or in a live situation, you'll never convince me that it is over $300 better; in fact, the Golden Trinity got louder before feedback. I had owned the K & K for a month when I got to try the AMT in Austin, but I wish I could have A/B'd them. That being said, if I were going to go woth a mic only (no pickup) I would definitely get an AKG 4000b. I tried one out on the advice of David K. and loved it. I haven't yet decided that I could ever be a mic only player though; it seems like I'm always being forced to set-up with my bass either directly in front of the bass drum or with the bass f-holes facing into the drums.
