Started using the EGGPIN in '93. It changes the center of gravity/balance point of the bass. The bottom line is that you can nearly eliminate the weight in your left hand. Great for sitting too - no more worry about the bass sliding away - or even having to bring a rock stop. Great product! One word of caution - if you use a Goetz socket, be aware of the extra torque created by the EGGPIN - I am a big guy, and managed to snap 2 Goetz sockets. On the 3rd, I inserted a short piece of endpin rod to give the wooden socket more rigidity. I have heard of a others that have had this problem, too . After a few years, I got tired of having to do that, and had a Goetz socket custom modified, so the center core is metal. I don't worry about breakage any more. Also, another change I made, was to replace the allen bolt that tightens the EGGPIN to the socket, with a mountain bike quick release seat binder bolt. Easy on, easy off.
The EGGPIN is not for everyone, but for some of us, it's the only way!
