: Hi... i'm just wondering, have anyone here tried to install electric bass pickup on an acoustic upright? since everyone here talks about piezo pickup, i guess there's something wrong with the electric bass pickup idea. I'm asking because i wanna try to do it to my bass.

: thanks

Lee Rocker (former Stray Cats bassman) uses 2 electric bass pickups on his upright bass (see the magazin Bassplayer). If you want a sound that has a taste of an electric bass, I don´t see why you shouldn´t do it. Further more you avoid feed-back problems. But you have to use steel strings in order to produce a signal that the pickup can catch. I have myself tried an electromagnetic pickup for URB, but due to the high string action I use, the signal was too week. I´m now using a Shadow piezo pickup.

Hope this helps.
