A place to start: I was once told to have the bridge to tailpiece tone a 4th higher than the open string. So it would be a C on the G string. Sometimes you may get annoying sympathetic tones from the bridge to tailpiece; some guys use some felt or tape to stop them from ringing, especially during recording.
: I am currently playing a '39 kay and the string length from center of nut to bridge is just over 41"with the bridge in the proper position(bottom edge even with the notch's of the "F" holes).Would moving the bridge to get the right string length be advisable? Also my tailpiece recently broke and I replaced it with a slightly smaller one,is there a certain distance the tailpiece should be from either the bridge or saddle
