: Hello All,

: I am relatively new to the upright world and I am pretty much working on Jazz stuff. I am looking for a string that has lots of sustain and loud. Any suggestions before I blow $$ on the wrong kind? I was thinking along the lines of the Pizz Helicores Light tension or 370s. I'm not sure if I'm on the right track or not. Any ideas?

Thomastik Spirocores are the historically popular string for jazz. Big sound and loud, but very scratchy to bow. Since you express a leaning towards light, I'd recommend their Weich weight. I usually keep a couple sets on hand, but Quinn Violins (below) has all the strings you're considering.
