: I am relatively new to the upright world and I am pretty much working on Jazz stuff. I am looking for a string that has lots of sustain and loud. Any suggestions before I blow $$ on the wrong kind? I was thinking along the lines of the Pizz Helicores Light tension or 370s. I'm not sure if I'm on the right track or not. Any ideas?

Besides Bob's excellent suggestion, I could add Pirastro's Jazzers.
Thomastik's Superflexible (blue ends) are also a good choice, and quite affordable. (about $75 a set at Quinn's)
