: : Today i,ve probed a shure prologue 10 with my double bass. Itīs a very cheap mic and it works with to many instruments. I think it may be there a drum mic that works perfectly with the double bass. Anybody have probed a bass drumīs mic.thanks.

: Lately, I've been getting very good results from a Sennheiser 421
: as a double bass mic. An ElectroVoice RE 20 also works quite well,
: as does the Audio Technica Pro37R (not really a drum mic).

: I position the 421 on a short mic stand so that it's just below
: bridge height, pointed at a 45-degree angle at the G side, about
: 4-5 inches from the bass.
: The RE 20 works better pointed directly at the f-hole on the G side.
: The Pro37r works best wrapped in foam (or a towel) and stuffed in the
: arch of the bridge with the "business end" pointed up.

joe,
I have mic'ed my "doghouse" with an AKG 'DM-112'for several years now.I've mounted it on a small, thin piece of aluminum bolted through the tailpiece at the "D" string eyelet.point it just under the bridge and slightly toward the center.this set up has worked very well for me with almost no feedback.good luck
