I have a K&K Bassmaster Pro (from Bob) on a carved bass, and I've tried both the Acoustic Image Contra and the GK combo but don't get the same good sound as DI from the K&K system in the studio. However I think the Acoustic Image sounded better, (dryer) at least with the K&K's.

Just for fun I also tried connecting my K&K system directly into a Mackie SRM450 full range 12" + HF self powered PA speaker on a stand. WOW ! Twice the wolume without feedback compared to any of the two above combos, much more definition and even sound though the whole register. It should be in the same price range as the combos, comes in a codura bag, and it should be possible to get your local dealer to let you test it on a gig.
