: Just wondering if that makes sense to you, agrees with your impressions. I'm really intrigued by this item, but not sure who offers them with a good return policy. Does anyone happen to know?
Call Bryce, he is great to talk to, and Hammond Ashley has a great rep. 1-800-787-4642. I find the Stat-B to be more "pick-uppy" than the Dyn-B, but less so than Underwoods, K & K's, Fishman's, Barcus Berry, and any other pickup than I've heard. The Realist does sound very natural, but I think it is the pits for cutting through a band (no highs). I'd rather use a mic; it would cut through at least as well as a Realist and sound better. The best sounding gig I've had lately was an outdoor gig where the generator wouldn't allow my Acoustic Image to work, so I threw an SM 58 in front of the bass with no problems.
