I recently heard Ray Brown in Toronto playing his Polytone Mini Brute. He got a great sound, but....his amp was miked and put throught the house system. I used to love using 15" cabs, because they are deep and rich sounding. If you mike the cab, a 15" would be fine. In this setup, the 15" acts more like a monitor for you, and the EQ for the house system or PA can be adjusted to sound good in the audience. Beleive me.....a 15" speaker does sound like mud when you step out in front of the band. I use a 12" speaker when I want that deep sound that we all love, and the Aguilar is able to handle it down to 40hz. Just try one out, but don't pass up Bag End, they all have different sounds. The Acoustic Image Contra is a great amp as well, it gives you a very acoustic sound. The only way you would know for sure is to try several combinations of speakers.
