: Hi, my buddy is trying to find some wood for making an acoustic bass. Any
: suggestions? Pear wood, spruce??kind??, up in the New England area. Thanks

If you are speaking of a double bass (upright bass), the traditional woods are spruce for the top, maple for the sides and back. Other woods can be employed, of course, but the basic nature of each should be considered when making a selection.
