well Dave, you would be surprised at how long it takes some folks to figure that out. There are any number of cats out there that can't get a big warm open sound out of the bass and are looking for every possible combination of pick up, amplifier, speaker cabinet etc.
that's gonna give them a "good sound".
Despite what his website says, Chris was using a Polytone MiniBrute with a 12" speaker at the Vanguard.
Me, I use an old Polytone extension cabinet with the speaker replaced with a 12" JBL, seems to work fine.
There are a few cats doing electric work with a single 12, but not really rock or funk acts, small clubs, not too loud, that kinda thing. Why not get a 10" for upright and a 15" for electric and just use the same head. Are you playing both axes on the same gig?
