Jeez, what's that all over my chair? It smells!
well Dave, you would be surprised at how long it takes some folks to figure that out. There are any number of cats out there that can't get a big warm open sound out of the bass and are looking for every possible combination of pick up, amplifier, speaker cabinet etc.
that's gonna give them a "good sound".
Despite what his website says, Chris was using a Polytone MiniBrute with a 12" speaker at the Vanguard.
Me, I use an old Polytone extension cabinet with the speaker replaced with a 12" JBL, seems to work fine.
There are a few cats doing electric work with a single 12, but not really rock or funk acts, small clubs, not too loud, that kinda thing. Why not get a 10" for upright and a 15" for electric and just use the same head. Are you playing both axes on the same gig?
