I've been using the Golden Trinity with a K&K preamp that Bob Gollihur sold me. I've been happy with at at moderate volume gigs. I end up blending the two and the mic basically adds "air" and some warmth to the Realist pickup I have. I try to get as much of the Trinity mic as possible before feedback but I agree that if the band gets too loud we shouldn't turn up. If they want upright bass on a gig they should play to that volume. If a singer were singing through a very small PA system we as musicians would drop down to that level. There is just a level of amplifying where digging in doesn't get heard as diggin in because it is masked by the amplification.
