Hi, Amy
I just read some information on the creation of the KAY UPRIGHT BASS that might help you. Try this : google.com (a search engine) type in "kay instruments of indianapolis indiana" (search) the first listing is labeled "UNTITLED" It give the history of the creator of the Kay Bass and his advancements which lead to creating the Kay basses and cellos due to the trade problems created by the 2nd world war. A very interesting article, I thought.
