: : Check Bob Gollihur's website (www.gollihur.com)

: As Ed say's Bob's site is a good place to start , there definitely has been some work done on the acoustic properties of the upright and it's on the web ! A friend of mine checked up for the sound envelope of a double bass for me - I do't know the name of the site that he fond it on but I will find out and I'll let you know when I do.

Dear,

The book "The Physics of Musical Instruments" by Neville Fletcher ISBN 0-387-98374-0 Springer Verlag New-York, Chapter 10, Bowed String Instruments deals indeed a lot with violins, but also on a High Quality Double Bass, discussing input admittances of the bridge, discussing spectrum of a bass and so on.
Hope this helps!
Succes!
