I had a similar problem with the endpin actually spinning in it's place, and am not able to fit a different endpin in since I found the block is cracked. My luthier (a very clever man!) wrapped the endpin assembly with sandpaper ( some very fine gauge) to hold it in place. I think we epoxied mine in, maybe you don't want to do that first, but it's been fine ever since. Hope it helps.
