The 'abuse' of the board is not the sole reason - it is the time involved in dealing with abusers, and I'm not singling anyone out. As I have responded to many in private, this is not to punish anyone. I have an expectant wife, and the message board was becoming a personal distraction - this is the reason the board was shut down. It may not seem like there was a lot of activity in dealing with this matter, but I answered a flood of email, tried to be judicious with people who not being straightforward, and dealt with manufacturers and retailers calling to complain, among many other things I won't mention. It was way out of hand.

I know most people don't understand that I have an important family situation to deal with at the moment, but every other minute devoted to problems on the board is one minute taken away from my wife. I hope everyone will understand.

If everyone wants to find this board and post, I don't mind. Just keep it a secret - : )

: Hello Folks,
: I hope some of the message board clan still visit this site as the new one has been shut down. I see this as a great shame, there is no other resource like this and it was becoming a deeper mine of info every day. As this old site is still active I hope the good people that posted messages on the new board will return to this board to keep the good thing going.
: Mr Garner, please excuse my defiance, it is not just to ply my wares but to help reinstate what seemed like a great community. The 'abuse' of the other board does not seem like a wholly worthy reason to deny the rest of us. The service you provide is an invaluable resource, please don't let it become just another archive.
: I am a double bass luthier and have follwed this board for a long time. I am selling the first bass I made while I was studying luthiery at Guildhall in London a few years ago. It is a very unique instrument (7/8 size)with a carved maple back and beautifully warm cedar sound plate. I have produced a web page to advertise properly so if you interested please click on the link below.
: Thankyou.
