I have a 3/4 size bass for sale ,I`m not exactly sure of the maker but it is a German solid bass made in around 1840/50. It was originally made as a three string bass because thats what was the norm, and when four string bass`s became fashionable (1850`s) it was converted to four string ,which is why it was relatively easy to date it .I don`t know which wood it is made from but it is dark brown in colour with an ebony fingerboard. It has a slope to the upper part of the back (for bowing) which is otherwise flat and it has a swell front .Also it has a lovely rose carved into the heel of the neck. It really is quite an exceptional instrument and would obviously be an investment.I dont know if this site covers the UK but thats where I am. I am looking for offers in excess of £3000.
