: : Hi, is anyone interested in selling a 5 string Kay bass? I have heard there are some good instruments from the late forties/early fifties with 5 strings. I am looking for an upgrade for jazz, and would be willing to trade my asian made four string with pick up under the bridge, recently set up by a real pro, and other details can be worked out as well. I am in the New England area, and can travel, esp. New York City/ Boston areas (where I live and go to school). Drop me an email if you have any interest. Thanks!
: Hi Nick,
: I own a 1948 5 string Kay,they can be very nice basses. I love mine and unfortunately for you ,it's not for sale. However, I saw a really nice 5 string Kay at David Gages' shop in NYC. Give them a call and see if it's still available 212- 274-1322. Daivd is not cheap but his service is top notch and the crew at his shop is extremely friendly and knowlageable.
I have a friend that has one for sale. it is probably a 50's model in great shape.
