: : I bought (for under 500.00) a Fender Precision special (made in Mexico). It has the Jazz bass pickup near the bridge and the Pbass pickup in the middle. I have played bass for over 25 years and I find this bass to be one of the most fun basses I have ever owned. It gives you the traditional "Fender" old Motown sound with just the Pbass pickup, but with the added jazz bass pickup near the bridge, you can get some of that Jazz bass "growl" and trebly bite for funk. It is hands down the best inexpensive bass I have ever owned. Plays much better than its pricetag would suggest.

: Thanks, Do you know anywhere i can find one cheap? I looked in musicians friend and i didn't see one. Also, does this bass have a good sound for slap bass? That is real important in the bass that i am going to buy. Ok, thanks
No - I sure don't. I got mine in a music store in Fort Worth, Texas in the midst of a gig-related emergency. Both of my basses were inoperative at the same time, and I needed a bass QUICKLY. A good friend of mine - Brian Batey took me to this store and this bass was on the stand, for sale and I snatched it up. I would suggest you look into Guitar Center, or maybe MARS Music. They usually have a large selection.
As to how it sounds for slapping... I don't play much slap style, so that wasn't a real big concern for me. But it has that traditional Fender sound, which lends itself to slapping, in my opinion.
Hope that helps.
