:Hey there. Tapping is a lot like a hammer on, except you perform a tap with your picking hand. Tapping is used in scales or also you can use it with double-stops. So, say you were playing a C Major scale. C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C Well, you could pick that from start to finish, but you could also tap the scale out on the bass using both your left and right hands. Just bring your right hand onto the fretboard and hit the string at the fret where the next note is. It's kind of hard to explain, but not to difficult to do for the most part. Stuart Hamm is a bass player that taps a lot. Guitar players are more known for their tapping techniques. Stanley Jordan plays guitar and taps a lot. So does Eddie Van Halen. He pretty much brought tapping to the forefront - although players were using it before he was. He just happened to get the most attention. I don't know how popular Eddie and Stanley are in Brazil though! www.activebass.com has some lessons on tapping. Just search though there lessons library. Hope this wasn't too confusing. JDP
