right hand position (playing quick)

I'm relatively new to the instrument and I'm still struggling with my right
hand position, especially when I try to play quickly.
1)First off, roughly where do you let your hand rest (closer to the bridge,
closer to the fretboard, or right in between the pickups?)
2)When using two fingers to play a quick succession of notes, I find the middle
finger has to curl slightly when plucking, because it's obviously longer than
the first finger. Is this proper technique?
3)How do you gauge how hard to pluck each string? I notice the lower the string
(i.e. the thicker it is), the less hard you have to pluck in order to get a
full sound.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
