: Alright, I've been playing bass since I was 14 (I'm 16 now) and I have been wondering, what the HELL is double thumbing? Can anyone help? Thanks for your time.

: Double Thumbing is something Victor Wooten uses a lot along with his Open Hammer Pluck technique. Sometimes he uses his thumb like a pick using up and down strokes to achieve more speed. He also uses it for slap. Normally when you slap your thumb bounces off the string for the next slap. Victor slaps thru the string (no bouncing) and then 'pops' the same string with his thumb on the way up. He explains all this in detail on his Super Bass Solo Technique video. It's a difficult thing to master. If you want to learn it you might try playing some major scales slowly and then work up to faster stuff. Hope this helps! JDP
