Slap bass is very percusive. Begin by practicing open quarter notes on the E,A D,and G stings. Followed by muted or "ghost" quarter notes on the E,A,D,and G. When I play, I always use the ball of my thumb and slap the string near the 22nd or 23rd fret. One key the to remember is to incorporate muting the strings with your slapping hand into your daily practice. Remember to start slow. Go out and buy a metronome and set it at 60-80 beats per minute. ALWAYS REMEMBER.....PRACTICE(and theory)MAKES PERFECT!!!!!
