Listening to Jaco is an excellent start. I'd recommend working on octaves and fifths at first, very slowly, just to get a handle on intonation. constantly check against open strings. Playing double-stops against an open string really helps. At first, slower is better, above all, so that you can listen for intonation. Then it helps to work on vibrato separately -- try to get varied types of vibrato, so everything doesn't sound the same!

Above all, play often. Fretless is a bit more demanding physically -- you need to keep at it so that you don't forget where you need to put your fingers.
