: I agree with Robby. The way I learned was by picking up anything by Larry Graham (the inventor) and looked for the lowest common denominator. "Car Wash" by Rose Royce was another easy approach to the sytle utilizing mainly eight notes. Then move on to people like Stanley Clark, Marcus Miller and others who are the kings. Some disco music is slap oriented but not real hard, they are good ways to learn. The books may be the best way for help on where to hit the strings with your thumb, at the bridge or at the neck. Different sounds at different locations. Good luck. It's a blast once you get your style in place.
