PAIGE - I mean it sounds so reasonable, "just another tool to be used". But, to me, it's like trying to find a rock to tie to a stick when you've got a hammer right there in the box. It's not that hard to learn to read music (as I'm sure you can attest), so I'm not sure what a player can gain by NOT doing it. This buddy of mine, really good jazz guitarist, recently finished a METALLICA book for Hal Leonard publishers. Now he took alla the parts of the records and alla the solos etc and transcribed them and then the publisher had the transcriptions converted to tab CAUSE THAT'S EASIER TO DO than tab to notation. Plus, you see who got the gig to do the book, right? The guy who could read and write.

WORLD AT LARGE - You don't want to learn to read, fine. I probably will never lose a gig to you.
