: I've played electric bass for about 10 years. I want to learn double bass. I'm interested in jazz, blues, swing and rockabilly. I live in East L.A. Please email me with any info on teachers in my area. Thanx.
Denny Croy at the McCabes Music Store, Santa Monica (310) 828-4497 just off the Santa Monica (10) freeway. If you were were not a beginner but already a fine string bassist, then I'd send you to Arni Egilsson, one of the all-time classic teachers greats and then there's Bert Turetzsky a fellow bass teacher at Henry Mancini Institute (where I also teach elec. bass in their UCLA program) - Bert is worth the drive down to San Diego county. But Denny Croy can get you started on the string bass (called that in the Musicians' Union Directory) just fine.
