I've found scales to be very important for my playing. When you play one, try to play the whole instrument. Try playing EVERY note in the Cmajor scale on your bass. Don't use one position for scales, use alternate positions, forcing your fingers to strech out. Also, practice arpeggios in 2 octaves. Try going up a scale in 6's so you have to anticipate a sting skip. It will greatly benifit your chops.
