First of all the Upright Bass (double bass) is tuned different than any Electric/Acoustic Bass... So it would be a waste of time to learn (I know I had a pain in the butt time trying to teach a person that knew how to play Double Bass to play Electric Bass)

But as for your question, the Fender BG-29 is a nice acoustic bass (it costs like $350) Never tried the Johnson...

: hi all!
: i am wanting to learn to play an upright bass but was told to start out on an acoustic bass guitar.
: i am considering a johnson solid top cutaway or a fender bg-29. which is the eaiest to play as far as neck, body etc? is the fender worh 100 more?
: can these basses be heard"Acoustically"In a bluegrass jam session?
